Closed. The librileo children's book club ended at the end of 2024.
What's in the box: Each themed, age-matched box contained a children's book, a small game or surprise, and a guide for parents with reading tips.
Librileo has shut down. Its operator, the nonprofit Viva Equality gUG, ended the project at the end of 2024, and new sign-ups, book boxes and reading sessions are no longer offered. When it ran, Librileo was a German read-aloud club for families with young children. Members got a book box every three months. Each box was matched to the child's age and built around a theme such as bath time, the autonomy phase or sharing. A box held a children's book, a small game or surprise, and a guide for parents with tips on reading together. Membership also included live interactive reading sessions on Zoom twice a month, where children could listen, craft and play along. A media library kept the two most recent sessions for later viewing. The fee was 9.95 euros per month. Families on Bürgergeld, social assistance or similar benefits could get it reimbursed through Germany's Education and Participation Package (BuT), and Librileo supplied a membership certificate for the application. Former federal family minister Franziska Giffey had been the project's patron since 2018. The organisation says it is still active with other projects that promote fair educational opportunities. Families who want a children's book subscription now will need to choose a different service.
