Vision Express Club

What's in the box: Instead of a box, you get a pair of prescription glasses, with frames and lenses chosen in store or online, supplied through an ongoing membership.

Vision Express Club is the eyeglasses subscription from Vision Express, a large optical chain with stores across Hungary. It is not a box that arrives on a schedule. You get prescription glasses through an ongoing membership instead of paying for them all at once. The site also lists a separate contact lens subscription, a loyalty program and eyewear insurance, so the Club is one part of a wider set of services. The main pages do not give monthly fees, contract length or what happens to the frames when the term ends, so read the plan terms before you sign up. The services around it are solid. You can book an eye exam online, the exam comes with a 90 day guarantee, you can try frames on virtually, and glasses can be made in as little as an hour. Frame brands include Ray-Ban, Oakley, Gucci, Burberry and Michael Kors, and the range covers prescription and polarized sunglasses. The site also lists health fund partners. The subscription is aimed at prescription glasses, so if you mainly want new sunglasses each season, the regular sunglasses sales will probably suit you better than the Club. The site is in Hungarian.
