What's in the box: When it was running, a box typically held a romance novel along with sensual or adult products chosen to match the book's themes.

Bawdy Bookworms is closed and no longer sends out boxes. Founder Thien-Kim Lam shut the business down in June 2023, and the 69th box was the last one produced. While it ran, the service was a romance novel subscription aimed at US readers. Each box paired a steamy book with sensual products chosen to match the story. It had a playful, sex positive tone and treated pleasure as a natural part of reading romance. The website now says plainly that the boxes are no longer made. It points visitors to Lam's work as an author instead. That includes a monthly author newsletter and a Substack called Courageous Pleasure about writing and pleasure. Lam also offers writing workshops and sex education tips. You can't order a box, and the site gives no sign that the service will come back. If you want a current romance book subscription, you will need to look elsewhere. Fans of the original boxes who liked Lam's voice and outlook can still follow the newsletter and Substack. Those are separate from the subscription, though, and they don't include physical boxes or products.
