Junk Wax Box

Closed.Monthly subscription program ended with the final May 2026 shipment, citing rising costs.

What's in the box: When it operated, each monthly box delivered vintage sports cards and packs from the junk wax era of the late 1980s and early 1990s, spanning sports like baseball, football and basketball.

Junk Wax Box is no longer operating: its monthly subscription program ended with the final May 2026 shipment, and all active subscriptions were canceled automatically at that point. The company says rising costs for wax boxes, packaging, shipping and fulfillment made it too difficult to keep delivering the value it wanted to offer. For about five years, it sent subscribers a monthly delivery of vintage sports cards focused on the junk wax era, the stretch from roughly the late 1980s to the early 1990s when cards were printed in enormous quantities. Cards from that period are generally prized more for nostalgia and the fun of opening packs than for resale value, and the service was built around exactly that experience, covering sports such as baseball, football and basketball. The site does not state what a box cost or how many packs each one held. The company says it would like to return someday if economic conditions improve, but it has not announced any date or plan. Former subscribers with questions can contact the company at info@myjunkwaxbox.com. If you want a junk wax era subscription today, you will need to look elsewhere, since this one cannot be joined.
