Ludum

What's in the box: Board game picks from Ludum's catalogue, though the main site does not say exactly what comes in each box or how many items.

Ludum is a French online shop that sells board games, comics, manga, role-playing games, classic games and painting and modelling supplies. Its subscription box is listed with the rest of the catalogue under a 'Ma Box' section. The shop is well stocked, with well-known titles such as Sky Team, Turing Machine and Castles of Burgundy, plus a 'Jeu Rescapé' range of games sold at a reduced price. Delivery to a pickup point is free on orders from 40 €. There is a French phone line, an FAQ and a contact page, which is reassuring. The main pages don't explain how the box works, though. The price, how often it ships, how many items arrive and whether you can skip or cancel are not stated there, so open the box section and read the terms before you commit. The site also has a 'Pass Ludovor' programme, but it doesn't explain that up front either. A box run by an established retailer with a broad range is usually a safer bet than one from a small startup, and the range suggests the team knows the hobby. Still, if you like subscription terms laid out clearly from the start, read the details carefully. The site is in French and aimed at shoppers in France.
