YarnYAY! is no longer operating. Founder Vickie Howell announced its closure in late 2023 along with a final monthly box, so there is nothing to subscribe to today. When it ran, YarnYAY! was a US-based monthly box for knitters and crocheters, curated by Howell, a well-known craft designer, author and host of The Knit Show. Each box was built around a project and paired yarn with a pattern from Howell, so subscribers got the materials and instructions for a specific piece. Her friendly teaching style was a big part of the appeal, and her video content made the projects approachable for newer makers. Her website is still active and now focuses on her books, podcast, classes, shop, blog and the Stitchwell Social Club. That club offers a printed minizine sent by mail as a member perk. Recent posts include a chunky crochet tee pattern, a make-along themed around mental health, and a community service project for knit and crochet soap sacks. These are separate from the old box, and the site gives no sign that YarnYAY! will return. If you have past boxes or patterns, they are a good record of a thoughtful, designer-led service. If you want an active yarn subscription, you will need to look elsewhere.
