What's in the box: Boxes were assembled by individual supporters and typically held everyday items like snacks, toiletries, and reading material requested by unit contacts.
Any Soldier Inc. is no longer operating, and its website at anysoldier.com does not load, so there is no way to take part today. When it ran, Any Soldier was a US nonprofit founded in August 2003 that connected civilians with deployed service members. It did not sell a prepackaged box. Instead it worked as a network: volunteers in deployed units signed up as contacts and posted what their troops needed, and supporters assembled and mailed their own packages to those contacts. The contacts then shared the contents with members of their unit, especially those who received little mail from home. Requests often covered everyday items such as snacks, toiletries, reading material, and small comforts that were hard to get overseas. The model gave donors control over what they sent and how much they spent, and it put packages in the hands of people who might otherwise have gone without. The tradeoff was that senders handled all the shopping, packing, and postage themselves, and there was no recurring delivery to manage it for them. No recent status information is available, and the service should not be considered an option for sending packages now. Anyone wanting to support deployed troops should look for an organization that is currently active and can confirm where donations go.
