What's in the box: Packages are put together by volunteers and usually hold snacks, toiletries, handwritten letters and other comfort items picked for the adopted service member.
Soldiers' Angels is a US nonprofit, not a commercial subscription box. It's a way to give, not something you order for yourself. Its Adopt-A-Service-Member program pairs volunteers, called Angels, with deployed troops. Volunteers commit to sending letters and regular care packages for the length of the deployment. Deployed service members can sign up on the site to receive morale-boosting support and supplies. The organization does much more than care packages. It runs monthly food distributions in cities including Dallas, San Antonio, Atlanta and Washington D.C. It also offers holiday help for military families, virtual baby showers, card requests and Women of Valor support for female caregivers. Seasonal campaigns include Treats for Troops, which collects leftover Halloween candy and ships it to service members and veterans, plus Warm Feet for Warriors and Holiday Stockings for Heroes. The breadth is a real strength, but the site crams so many programs into its menus that the adoption details take some digging to find. Because volunteers put the packages together themselves, contents and timing depend on the individual Angel. If you want a personal, hands-on way to support troops, this is one of the best known options. If you want a ready-made box shipped on a fixed schedule, look elsewhere.
