What's in the box: Each box held one brand new board game that the member picked from a curated list, to keep.
UnboxBoardom is not operating normally at its old Cratejoy address, which now redirects to a separate site at unboxboardom.com, so shoppers should treat the original store as inactive. When it ran, it was a monthly board game subscription aimed at US households. Members chose a plan, then picked a game from a list curated by the UnboxBoardom team, and a brand new game arrived at their door to keep. The company said its staff played the games with their own families before featuring them, with the goal of steering buyers away from titles that are dull or too complicated. Selections covered family games, strategy games and party games, and the service leaned toward newer or less common releases rather than the familiar staples found in most stores. The founder, Phil, said he started the business after his wife looked for a board game of the month subscription and could not find one. The company also said it would donate a game to an organization serving children in need for every ten new signups. Gift subscriptions were offered. The site does not state current prices or shipping terms. Because the old address no longer works as it once did, anyone curious should check what the new site actually offers before spending money.
